bigpigeon.us webpage WWII Roster > Roster Appendices > Post-Separation Deaths, © 2023 by Robert A. Christiansen, last update by RAC 3 Feb 2023.
  • Below sep. denotes separation from service; this was generally a discharge but sometimes a change from active duty to reserve status. Elsewhere Big Pigeon's WWII Roster module uses (vet.) for veteran.
  • We will never know how many of the deaths below were attributable to psychic or physical wounds incurred during military service.
  • The major source for this webpage is ancestry.com's database Iowa WWII Bonus Case Files for Beneficiaries.
  • The term service related cause in the bonus case files can be misleading. It often means the individual became ill before separation, not that military service caused the illness.
  • Currently the latest death date herein is 14 December 1949.
