Wikipedia estimates of deaths attributable to WWII:
Much of World War II was directed against civilian rather than military targets. I have chosen as my header image a photo representing the civilian target that proportionally suffered the most, and suffered because of ideological rather than military reasons, namely the Jewish people.
- Civilians killed totaled 50 to 55 million, including 19 to 28 million from war-related disease and famine.
- Military deaths from all causes totaled 21 to 25 million, including deaths in captivity of about 5 million prisoners of war.
