My Hansen great-grandparents, Peter Hansen and Dorthe Hansen, lived on the islannd of Lolland before immigrated to Pottawattamie County, Iowa in 1886 with their three oldest children, Karen Margarethe, Hans Peter and Laurits Christian.  Their fourth child, Mads Adolf, remained in Denmark.  Their fifth child, Ellen Marie, was born in Iowa.  The Hansen family moved from Council Bluffs to Hazel Dell Township in 1895.
